Human rights systems and actors in context and dialogue

Analysis of the mandate, role and effectiveness of human rights systems and actors at both the domestic and international level.

The purpose of the project by the DanishInstitute for Human Rights (DIHR)is to critically analyse the mandate, role and effectiveness of human rights systems and actors at both the domestic and international level.

The project has two main components:

1. The role of State actors of the national human rights system

The purpose of the project is to create a methodological and conceptual baseline in order to analyse the mandate, role and effectiveness of human rights state actors at domestic level. The project build on a number of case-studies in DIHR partner countries.

2. The interaction between international, regional and domestic human rights system

This project looks into state reporting in selected West Africa country (Pilot project) and analyses the relationship between national and supra-national human rights systems and actors, The purpose of the project is to understand the continuous effort that this type of reporting requires and represents, understand the necessity for national state actors to work together in order to secure reporting and ensure the quality of the reporting through consultation with other stakeholders.

The project participates into the Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR) international strategy which want to provide relevant knowledge and capacity for DIHR programming work and to contribute to the strengthening of the analytical resource base on human rights in Denmark and in the global context. The project wants to enable DIHR staff, partners and other stakeholders to improve program design and implementation.
